Fritz Kreisler Likes Swing Music

TpRITZ KREISLER, the famous VlenX nese violinist, likes swing music. He believes that it has its place in the musical ■world. “Swing is not music for the heart and soul like one hears from the concert platform,” he said in a Paris interview. “But it is for the feet, and the reactions to both types are equally sensitive.

“In olden times there was only sacred music, which had an appeal like religion. Now we have all kinds of music. Music has become an atmosphere maker. Look at the radio and the cinema. On the screen it sets & scene or a mood. On the radio it is professional —and sells carpets.”

Kreisler then gave his one French concert of the season before a packed Opera House audience. But it was not swing.
