F.A. Trophy Challenge To
Auckland
JULY 15 DECIDED ON A decision to accept July 15, the date offered by the Auckland Football Association, for Wellington's challenge to Auckland for the Football Association Trophy, was reached at last night s meeting of the management committee of the ■Wellington Football Association. Wellington's letter suggesting July 29 had crossed a letter from Auckland recommending July 15, and it was not till the Wellington secretary had communicated with Auckland by telephone and ‘been informed that either date would be suitable to Auckland, that a decision was made. Mr. J. Houston and Mr. W. McPherson waited on the committee to offer a trophy for competition among Wellington district primary schools. The trophy was in the form of a shield, ornamented with a Soccer ball in silver, and the donors stipulated that the competition be for boys under 14, on similar lines to primary school competitions in the Old Country. The chairman, Mr. J. Meltzer, said that the gift came as a complete surprise and the committee very much appreciated the generosity of the donors. Mr. 11. Gilpin said that no trophy was being played for in any primary school sport in 'Wellington. The chairman said the committee would accept the trophy with pleasure and would do its utmost to institute a competition on the lines desired by the donors of the shield. The following senior fixtures for Saturday, July 8, were approved : — , First A Division. Wellington Semifinal, 'Chatham Cup. Seatoun v. Waterside, Basin Reserve, 2.30 p.m. Petone v. Swifts, or Hospital, Basin Reserve, 2.30 p.m. First B Division, 2.45 p.m. Scottish Wanderers v. Institute Old Boys, at Anderson Park No. 1; Nada v. Onslow, at Nairnville; Miramar Rangers v. Training College, at Crawford Green; Lower Hutt v. Stop Out, at Hutt Recreation Ground. Interhouse Association. Greathead Cup. Dorns v. Government Printing, Crawford Green ; Wellsteel v. Neeco, Seatoun; Precision Engineering A v. Precision Engineering B, Kilbirnie; Newtown Gynin. v. Hibberds, Te Aro. Friendly Games. Colbeal v. Hannahs, Stadium No. 1; Cathies v. Denhard, Stadium No. 2. It was decided that the two early games on the Basin Reserve on S_aturday start at 1 p.m., instead of at 1.1'5 p.m. In the sixth division, Marist Miramar will now play Thorndon Rangers at Kilbirnie Stadium at 1.15 p.m. The transfer of E. Todd from Waterside second A division to Institute Old Boys was approved. Permission was granted the Miramar Rangers first B and third division teams to travel to Napier on Saturday, August 5 to play Napier High School Old Boys. It was decided to play the return match between the Interhouse Association representatives and Manawatu on the Basin Reserve No. 2 ground on Saturday, July 15 An offer for a Navy team to travel to Wellington on ‘September 23 was received from 11.M.5. Leander. It was decided to reply that while the association appreciated the effort made to arrange a '-ame, the date suggested was too late for this season, but that it was hoped to arrange such a match early next season. Mr. J. Meltzer presided, and there were also present: Messrs. E. J. Gates. R. Bald, R. Gilpin. J. 11. Janes, A. Powers, J. J. Kean, C. Ballard. H. Spolsky, and W. J. Arcus (secretary).
