MONDAY’S WRESTLING
Earl McCready, New Zealand's prime wrestling favourite, will have his, fourth season in the Dominion this year, and his first match will be in the Town Hall. Wellington, next Monday night, when he will meet "Irish” Jack Donovan, as "tough a nut to crack” as could be selected from the fine array of talent in New Zealand. McCready comes fresh from an extended world tour in the course _of which he has met and beaten leading wrestlers in many countries. Among the wrestlers beaten were Johannes van der Walt, the South African claimant to the Empire titles. McCready made such short work of van der Walt that the South African's most ardent supporters were compelled to admit that he was no match for the Canadian. New Zealanders have had good cause to appreciate McCready’s qualities in a long series of matches, and they have never seen him give a poor display. Though he specializes mainly in orthodox wrestling he will allow no liberties to be taken with him, and this is something which the aggressive and rugged Donovan is likely to discover very quickly. Donovan, however, can be depended upon to give a good account of himself, for he has become recognized as the most successful of this season’s wrestlers. He places considerable reliance in jolts and other rough tactics, but scientific holds and counters have by no means been overlooked. He is fully qualified to make matters decidedly interesting for McCready, as well as spectacular for the audience.
