CHASERS AT WAIPA

W. G. Park Steeplechase PROSPECTS OF ALL IRISH Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, June 21. Features of the Waipa Racing Club's winter meeting at Te Awamutu on Saturday should be the three jumping events, the W. G. Park Steeplechase, the Orakau Hurdles, and the Andrew Kay Memorial Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase. Chief interest will be centred in the W. G. Park Steeplechase, which has attracted a fine field of 16. The good performer Erination is top-weight with 11-13, and that may not be prohibitive for a horse of his class. With 11.11 he ran third in the Great Northern Hurdles, and with 11.13 he filled the same position in the Remuera Hurdles at Ellerslie, efforts which showed that he is in good form. Most of his recent racing has been done over hurdles, but he is also capable over country, and at Riccarton last August he easily won the Lincoln Steeplechase with 11.3. Winter Steeples Winner. Everything has gone well with All Irish since he won the Winter Steeplechase at Ellerslie with 11,2, and, although he has been raised to 11.11, his prospects appear bright, as he is a -most accomplished steeplechaser, who is at his best over short courses. ' En Tour has been running consistently good races and will meet All Irish 61b. better than when he ran second in the Winter Steeplechase, so that he has to be respected. Biform has also been racing well and in his last four starts has notched a win and three minor placings. He had 10.13 when he ran second in the Bay of Plenty Steeplechase last Saturday and should appreciate the drop to 10.6. Lucidus is improving with racing, but he will require to come on n good deal to turn the tables on Mahala and Biform, who beat him at Tauranga. Mahala has an earlier engagement in the Andrew Kay Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase, which she may keep, but she should have prospects if started, as she is. on the up-grade and is handily placed with 9.6. Simint was never dangerous when he failed at his last start, which was in the Waikato Steeplechase at Te Rapa, but he is useful on his day. London ran below form at Tauranga and possibly his trainer may have been a little easy with him after his racing at the Great Northern meeting at Ellerslie. London should be capable of a prominent showing if he reproduces his best. It is some time since Pyrenees has raced over country, but he has won a steeplechase, and in view of his success in the Campbell Hurdles on the final day of the Great Northern meeting he will have a following. Chances of Saint Musk. Saint Musk is a dashing performer over short, courses and the brush fences should suit him nicely. He will meet All Irish and En Tour on nine and three pounds better terms respectively than when they defeated him in the Winter Steeplechase, and in addition he may be assisted by the shorter distance. Smilin’ Thru would appeal more if the journey were longer,

Saint Musk is a dashing performer over short courses and the brush fences should suit him nicely. He will meet All Irish and En Tour on nine and three pounds better terms respectively than when they defeated him in the Winter Steeplechase, and in addition he may be assisted by the shorter distance. Smilin’ Thru would appeal more if the journey were longer, ns she is a grand stayer. She was a creditable third in the Great Northern Steeplechase and was expected to run prominently in the Winter Steeplechase, in which she fell nt the second fence. Usually Smilin’ Thru is a very safe jumper and it is rarely that she makes a mistake. Roxy was going a good race when he fell on the hill in the last round of the Winter Steeplechase and is not without prospects if produced fit. Ureklaw is a promising steeplechaser, but he may require more experience before ho is equal to winning in this company. Electric Flash should be assisted by her quick jumping and is a possibility. Little Briton has performed creditably over hurdles, but may find the company a little strong. Car Leaf failed at ,Tauranga. but he raced more kindly than in his previous attempts over country and seems to be making a little improvement. Fancies are likely to take a wide range, and some who may be in demand nre AH Irish. Pyrenees, Erination, En Tour, Saint Musk and Biform.
