AWAPUNI GALLOPS

Power Chief In Good Order Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N.. June 19. Rain overnight made training operations unpleasant this morning. Most of the work was performed on the course proper, the flags being out about 30 feet. Power Chief, looking in splendid order, was worked in the oval. Bridegroom, under a restraint, went six furlongs in even time. Girl Pat and All Blood accomplished a similar task. The latter is well forward. Aureus (Jenkins) was running on better than Raeburn (McGregor) at the close of five furlongs in 1.9. Considering the going it. was a useful gallop. Sporting Gift (Kanake)_ wcut six furlongs, which occupied 1.25. Peach King (Mansfield), who is improved, galloped nicely over five furlongs in 1.11. . Diamond Cutter (Dye) was restricted to a seven-furlong gallop, coining home the last five in 1.12, without being bustled. . Quadroon (Bowden), Auroras Star (Jenkins) and Colonel Bogey (Tattersall) were associated in a seven-furlong gallop, the last three in 42-J. The three finished their task with a good deal in reserve and are apparently well attuned. Hunting Lore (Chaplin) was sent over the battens, giving a good display ot jumping. It looks as if Hunting Lore will turn out a payable proposition. Sunbeam (Kilminster), Renaseor (Dye) ami Seyfried (McGregor) went seven furlongs in 1.40. Snigger (Jarvis) was partnered by Manteau (Tattersall) in a three-furlong sprint, registering 40J. Erebus and Yed Prior, under a stroii„ hold, moved freely over seven iur ougs in 142. They are in good racing fettle. Malik Kafur (Tattersall) left five furlongs behind in 1.11. , Silvanus and Verey Lights covered seven furlongs in 1.40. Both horses finished their task in solid fashion. . Hanover and Riotous, looking remarkably well, weut once round—-a good worli--lUTaumau is a doubtful starter at the Otaki meeting. , , . Cuisinier is to be given a chance to make good as a hurdler, lhe son of Peach Brandy was schooled over the jumps on his trainer's property and got through his task creditably for a novice. Jim Waller has an addition to his team in Anita Foe, a rising three-year-old by Defoe out of a half-sister to Sturdee. Anita Foe will be prepared for the spring meet‘"oid Surrey, Conveyer. Catalogue Lau'diing Lass, Stargono, Cuddler, I'in<Goid, Guiding Light, Tidewaiter Bonnie Bunsby. Israel, and De Bretts were among those given light work. Riding engagements at Otaki: Kmcora, D. McGregor; Erebus aud Raparahara, p'Jarvis; Corroboree and Aurora s Star, W. Jenkins; Lord Moutoa, Ireland ; Parian, Diamond Cutter, Girl lat and Rustem, Tattersall; All Blood aud Royal Lassie, Chaplin. /ri,„ n Last Saturday All Blood (Chaplin), Erebus (Rohloff), and Sunbeam (W. Pine), in company, wen. once round over the battens. Erebus, jumping well, finished in front, but the others, nevertheless, did their work well and, judiciously placed, are likely to pay High Peer (W. Pine) gave an improved display over four hurdles. Stargono (M . Pine) was given a similar task, and, though he did not shape as well as Ins stable mate, his exhibition was satislactory for a beginner. It was Ins s e S‘ lesson. They are trained by . led line. C Thomson has an addition to his team in the chestnut gelding Ruaform (Ruapapa —Recherche). He needs no introduction in the hurdle branch, as he has won many races, including the Cen tury Hurdles. Ruaform has alreatij made his appearance on the tracK. rauvette, Guiding Light. Fine Gold, Sunbeam , and Renaseor are the other members ot his team. , , . Silvanus, till recently trained at Waverley. is under the guidance ot George New. Silvanus is engaged at Otaki. A newcomer on the tracks is Aureus, who is temporarily under the charge or N Voitre, on behalf of her trainer, Alt Neale while improvements are being carried out to the Bulls course... 1 arimond and Plav On are on the resting list. Walter E Pine, the well-known horseman. has applied for a traineFs licence. He is in the employ of Mr. Y . Bailey and is at present looking after two horses one is the six-year-old Alchemic, a winner of the Wanganui Guineas and other races; the other is Goldburn. an Austra-lian-bred animal. As Pine .is increasing in weight, he is wise. iu taking the opportunity to follow this calling, and, as he is steady and persevering, there is no reason why he should not make good. Pine will retain his riding licence. He will steer .Southern Blood in his Otaki engagements.
