TE RAPA GALLOPS

Maori Spng And Master Brierly Impress

Dominion Special Service.

HAMILTON, June 20.

Solid efforts over a round by Maori Song and Master Brierly and pleasing sprints by the maiden, Riff-Raff, . and Ngawiri were features of this morning’s work at Te Rapa, when after heavy overnight rain, the going on the No. 1 grass track was holding and cutting out. Riff-Raff (Hain) was on terms with Jewelled Girdle (Gilmer), with Mio Generale (C. L. Goulsbro) and Raeecamp (McKenzie) several lengths way, at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.22. the first half-mile being run in 54. Riff-Raff was apparently benefited from racing at Tauranga.

Master Brierly (Cotter) was doing better than Mio Luine (Winder) and British Sovereign (Day) in a similar effort, which required 2.5 4-5. Master Brierly is bearing a healthy appearance and did not appear to be deterred by the state of the going. Dark Rose (Cotter) and Car Leaf (Goulsbro), after running their first halfmile in 54 3-5 and five furlongs in 1.91, were being kept up to their work_at the completion of a round in 2.5 4-5.

Maori Song (Winder) was bitting out freely over the deciding stages of a circuit, a length and a half in front of Ellanui (Day) and Sergia (Long) in 2.3 2-5. Maori Song revelled in the going and looks in good order for immediate engagements. Ellanui has gone on the right way since competing successfully at the Great Northern meeting, and is to do his next racing at Trentham next mouth. He will be accompanied by Awhiowhio. -Inness Lad (Cotter) was practically on terms with Kittle (Maria), with Diversity (Conroy) beaten off, over a round in 2.5 4-5. Inness Lad will probably be one of the local contingent for the Wellington winter meeting.

Gappy (Brown) ran once round easily in 2.7 j. Awhiowhio (W. Thomson) ran the final s-even furlongs of bis work in 1.27, a smart effort.

The only schooling of the morning was that in which Jewelled Girdle (Gilmer) and Rothoon (Amundsen) were associated. After jumping the first two satisfactorily, Rothoon carried ou alone, but baulked at the third obstacle. However, he cleared it ou being taken back, and, though he got in rather close to the last, he jumped it safely. 0. Mclnnlly, who received extensive lacerations when Jewelled Girdle fell at the. Bay of Plenty meeting, will not be able to fulfill Tiding engagements at the Waipa meeting, but hopes to be in the saddle at Trentham next mouth. Riding engagements for Te Awamutu include: —J. Day, Gascync, Sergia ; M. Amundsen, Rothoon; W. M. Thomson. Very Glad.
