Petone And Lower Hut Board Meeting The. secretary of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board, .Mr. O. bilbury, reported to the-board at the. monthly meeting last, night that 239 Government houses had been fitted with gaslighting appliances during the month. The chairman, Mr. J. Cumming, presided, and there were also present Messrs. A Scholefield, H. V. Holor, A. Al. Macfarlane, H. Burrell and AV. 11. Edwards. The secretary reported that 94 meters had been changed during the month, 54 in Lower Hutt and 40 in Petone. Twentynine new meters had been installed, IS in Lower Hutt and 11 in Petone. Twentytwo new services had been put in. 11 in Lower Hutt and 11 in Petone. The works foreman, Mr. J. Adams, reported that 13,553.000 cubic feet of gas had been manufactured during the month, being an increase of 2,068,000 cubic feet over last month. Seven hundred and forty-two tons of native coal hadjteen received. and 733 tons carbonized, 71,”, tons of native coni anil 20 lons of Australian, ’rhe coal in stock at June 1 was 1)1S* tons, 797} native and 121 Australian. Five hundred and thirteen tons of coke had been manufactured, and 24S tons used in the producers. The amount of coke sold was 237 lons, and the estimated amount in slock was 213 tons. It was estimated that there was 25.75 S gallons of tar in stock, and 10(H) gallons iiad been sold to flic Marton Borough Council during the month. The tender of William Cable. Ltd., was accepted for a supply of purifier covers.
