NURSES ENTERTAIN
Willingness To Serve In Time Of Need The Nurses’ Club, Kensington Street, presented a gay scene on Wednesday evening, when the Wellington Obstetric Group of the Registered Nurses’ Association gathered together in true party spirit. Miss Julius, president of the group, assisted by Mrs. Nees, secretary, acted as hostess and received the 60 guests. In opening the proceedings Miss Julius asked for a show of hands of all nurses willing to give their services in time of national need and there was a full response.
A competition and musical items comprised the entertainment, A concert party of young nurses-in-training from St. Helen’s Hospital, under the leadership of Nurse B. Whittaker, presented an excellent programme. They delighted the audience with their diverse talent and the happy and whole-hearted manner in which they rendered their items. Pianoforte, vocal, and flute solos, a vocal quartet and Highland dancing terminated with community singing, in which all joined enthusiastically.
After supper, Miss Julius thanked the St. Helen’s nurses for the great pleasure their musical ability had afforded all present. Among those present were:—Alexanda Home Matron. Clark; Dietitian, Wellington Hospital, Miss McLean: Tutor Sister, Wellington Hospital, Miss N. Knight; Ante-natal' Sister. St. Helen’s. Miss O’Sullivan: Mesdames Summers, Nees, Misses Inglis, E. and V. Dawes, C. McAndrew, Blathwayt. and Burdett.
