VIENNA BOYS’ CHOIR
Wellington Concert Tonight The celebrated A’ienna Mozart Boye’ Choir will give the first concert of a five nights’ season in the Town Hall, AVellington tonight. Much is expected of this renowned organization which has recently delighted sophisticated musical audiences in Germany, Great Britain, and the United States of America. A leading English Pre«s critic said of them: “To find a choir of 20 eager lads (and a very prepossessing party they are, in looks and manners), ranging in age from 10 to 13, very well cultured singers, turning out gems of miis-ie of the golden age, is enough Io make the adult choralists of three islands hang their heads in shame, and they arc only on the outer fringe of real culture.” The first programme, which will be presented tomorrow night a« well, will include a musical play. “Tales of Ihe A’ienna Woods.” which has been based on the melodies of Johanna Strauss and arranged by the conductor of (he choir. Dr Gruber. There will bo a selection of folk songs of many countries. Changes of programme will he made on Friday and Monday nighls: matinees being presented tomorrow and Saturday. The boys will arrive at AVellington early this morning. At noon, accompanied by officials of tlie Returned Soldiers’ Association, they will attend the AVellington Citizens’ War Memorial, Bowen Street, to lay a wreath. Tn connection with yesterday’s Anzae service in Hamilton, a wreath was also laid. The boys will be the guests of the AVellington Trave] Club at a gathering which will begin at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
