Orchestras In Wellington jj-rom "The Dominion,” April 22, 1014. A movement is on foot to re-establish the Municipal Orchestra in Wellington under the direction of Mr. Bernard Page, the city organist, who is no stranger to the -baton. At present Wellington is conspicuously badly off for orchestral music, and the choral societies always have considerable difficulty in getting together an orchestra of capable amateurs able to do justice to the works presented. All that can Ibe looked for is an occasional concert on a Sunday night, when the services of the better class instrumentalists, the professional musicians, who are engaged in the theatres throughout the week, are available. Should Mr. Page succeed iu gathering round him an efficient orchestra of t>o or 6'o players he will be doing signal service in the cause of music, which is showing signs of rust. ” ” # « *
