“CAPPICADE, 1939”
Reports are about that “Cappicade, 1939." extravaganzas from the sttfdents i>f Victoria University College, Wellington. which will be presented in the New Opera House for the finst time next Saturday, will surpass all previous efforts with its strikingly original ballets, subtle humour, catchy tunes, and-spec-tacular staging. The plots unfold themselvea cleverly and clearly, holding the interest all the time, and are reinforced by snappy topical dialogue. The doings of "Adam” in “Adam in Wonderland” should provide a good laughter tonic; and John Carrad’s “The Dinkum Oil,” with the ever-popular men’s ballet, should "bring the house down.” The major production. “The Vikings,” which was written by Ronald L. Meek and produced by Ralph Hogg, takes the form of a satire on European events incorporating all the leading characters in international affairs. The “Cappicade" booklet is now on sale. The proceeds from the sale of these and from “Cappicade, 1939,” will be devoted to the Students’ Building Fund.
