AMUSEMENT PARK

Work At Exhibition To Begin Immediately Work at the amusement park at the National Centennial Exhibition will be started immediately following the arrival at Wellington by the Awalea yesterday of four men, who will take a. leading part in the construction of the park. The men were accompanied from Sydney by Mr. Henry Self, New Zealand representative and organizer of the concessional company which is to be in charge of the amusements. Mr. C. Paige, Los Angeles, engineer, who will be in charge of construction, has been responsible for the erection of a number of the biggest amusement parks iu the world, among them being those at the Brussels International Exhibition in 1934, and the Paris international Exhibition in 1937. Before leaving England to come to New Zealand, he was engaged on reconstruction work in Blackpool, where there is the largest amusement park in the world. Mr. G. Kidd will be responsible- for the erection of the tubular steel, of Which Playland at the National Cem tennial Exhibition .will be partly constructed. Mr. F. Sharpies, English entertainment manager, is to take over the position of operating manager and assistant to Mr. Self. An amusement park devices carpenter completed the .party. The remainder of the labour needed will be obtained in New Zealand.
