POSTAL SERVICES OF WORLD
Lecture To League For The Hard Of Hearing A comprehensive survey of the history of postal services throughout the world was given to members of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing recently by Dr. Thaddeus r. Hyatt, New York, a former lecturer to the League for the Hard of Hearing, Education Department, New York. Dr. Hyatt has never been a postal official, but is a recognized authority on the historv of earlier postal services. .Mr.‘Leigh Hunt, vice-president of the Wellington branch, New Zealand League, in introducing the speaker referred to the honour which bad been paid the league in having such an eminent authority to address them. In supporting the hearty vote of thanks moved by Mr. Hunt, and carried by acclamation, Mrs. G. A. Hurd-Wood drew attention to the fact that iu 1911 America inaugurated its first airmail service, and in January of the same year the first league for hard of hearing In America was founded in New York. The New York League for the Hard of Hearing was not only the oldest, but the best-equipped league of its kind in the United States of America. Dr. Hyatt will leave New Zealand on Tuesday from Auckland, en route to California, and intends to do some sigbt-seeing in his own country before returning to New York.
