Rates On Sports Grounds From “The Dominion,” April 4, 1911. The sports bodies owning playing areas in AVellington are very well pleased that they have been able to prevail on the City Council at last to remit a percentage of the rates payable on sports grounds. The South African Government’s new standing order providing for the closure was adopted after a debate which was remarkable for the contemptuous and insulting references to General Botha (the Union" Prime Minister), who sat throughout the debate stolidly defiant. The Westport Coal Company, has secured a contract to supply the railways of New Zealand with 76,000 tons of coal for the year.
