YOUNG AUSTRALIANS TO ENTERTAIN
When the world-famous Young Australian Bov* Band and Revue begins a season in the New Opera House, Wellington, on Thursday enjoyment for young and old will be offered. These boys bring something new in entertainment —a stage band featuring four piuno-accordians, three xylophones, Spanish guitars, and other modern and popular instruments, the combination being conducted by Charles Stanton, 14-year-old band leader; and a complete.revue carried through in high-class, polished professional style, with the player* only in their ’teens. The comedy work is excellent and the brilliance of this part of the programme is indicated by the wholehearted' laughs from the audiences before whom the boy* have played in many parts of the world. The tap dancing is of a high order, and the impersonations simply amazing. George Nichols, without makeup or any special costumes, portrays characters ranging from well-known dictators to famous Him star*, and Colin Grot’s female impersonations have been the sensation of many overseas countries. Not least, among these young stars is Paul Pollard, who, though only eight years old, is a skilful player of the xylophone.
