Tribute To Services Of Coach

In forwarding a donation of £2/2/- to the 'Wellington Cricket Association last night as an acknowledgement of the good work the association's coach, Mr. J. KShetlield, had done in coaching the boys of the college, the Rongotai College Activities’ Association stated that tue coach’s services were very valuable. Mr. Shetlield, in reporting upon the match played by a team of secondaiy school boys and a Wellington Cricket Association team on the Hutt Valley High School ground last week, said that the match had served to give the schoolboys useful experience. Speakers at the luncheon had commented favourably upon the form shown by the boys and the hope had been expressed that such matches would be held more frequently in the future. It was decided to thank Mr. E. J. Ann, a member of the management committee, for the trouble he bad gone to in arranging the match, and also to forward a letter of thanks to the headmaster of the Hutt Valley High Schill, Mr. J. N. Millard, for granting the use of the ground, and to all the others who had assisted to make the match such a success. Marl borough’s Thanks. A letter was received from the Marlborough Cricket Association thanking the Wellington Association for having sent its team to play a match in Blenheim—and expressing the hope that another visit would be paid next season. Mr. Phillipps said that the captain of the Wellington team, Mr. W. J. R. Christophersen, had been very favourably impressed with the form which had been shown by the members of the Marlborough team.
