London Butter Market Quiet CHEESE MARKET SLOW There was no change in the London butter market last week, prices remaining unchanged in a quiet market, according to the "cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board. Friday s closing, quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows:— New Zealand, salted, 118/- (118/-; a year ago. 119/- to 120/-) ; unsalted, 122/- (122/-: .a year ago, 122/- to 123/-). Australian, salted. 117/- (115/- to 116/-); unsalted. 118/- (116/- to 117/-). Danish. 11-1/- f.0.b., 135/- to 136/spot (118/-; MO/- to 141/-). Dutch, unsalted. 114/- to Lio/-, ex. 118/- (114/- to 115/-). Polish, salted and unsalted. llu/(1 South Africa. 113/- to 115/- (112/- to 114/-). ... . . ~ The retail price of New Zealand butter lasi week was 1/6 ami 1/2 a lb., with Danish Id. lower at 1/4. , The present price of US/- is equal to approximately 14/03d. a lb., f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaran teed price of 14.80(1. a lb., f.o.'b. The Loudon equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124/3 al cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 6.7 d. a lb., f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 5.24 u. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store lasi week were 1731 tons, compared with 191-1 tons for the previous week, and 23511 tons a year ago. The quantity in store la-st Ifriclay, including 1330 tons ex the Port Alma and Port Sydney, was 5175 tons, against 4806 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2097 tons, and the quantity in store 4940 tons, compared with 2702 tons a 3C The” Imperial Economic Committee’s estimated stocks of all butters in store last week was 765,020 boxes, compared with 475.238 boxes a year ago. Tile cheese market continued slow last week, the price of New Zealand, 60/- a cwt., showing a further decline of 2/- on the week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those for the previous week m parentheses, were as follows:— New Zealand, white and coloured, 60/(62/-; a year ago, 70/-). Australian, white, 04/- to s</- (no/to SS/-) : coloured, 56/- to 58/- (so/- to Canadian, white and coloured, 72/- to 73/- (72/- to 74/-) ; old season's coloured, ' finest farmers’. 86/- to 96/(86/- to 96/-) ; factory cheese, 62/- (62/to 64/-). .
