Qualifying Round Of Knock-out Handicap The last qualifying rouud of the AVellington baseball knock-out handicap competition was played on Saturday, and there are now seven teams left to contest the final games to be played on April 1 and April 8. There will be no competition games uext Saturday as the iriterprovincial tournament will be held iu Wellington on that day. The seven teams to contest the final of the knock-out competition and their handicaps are as follows:—Jenkins Gym. A (scr.), Southern (15), Webb's Gym. (2), City Giants A (2), Eastbourne (11), Capstan (19). and Petone A (6). The final game for the Jenkins Shield to decide the champions of the Wellington province for the current season was played on Saturday between Ford and Jenkins Gym. B, and resulted in a win for Ford by 26 to 7. The game was not without its thrills. Zemba was responsible for the highlight of the year when he hit AVilson’s fast one for the longest run home ever seen on the Showgrounds. The Ford team were more experienced and always had the game well in band. Marfin and Zemba saved the Gym. team from complete collapse and bad the fielders supported Martin the scoring would have been kept down to a considerable extent. Ford have now won the shield for the second years in succession.
The AVellington representative team to play in the tournament next Saturday is: AVilson, Struthers, Russiell, Tristram (Ford). Pringle, Urwin, Hendifen, Brown, Jenkins, Martin (Jenkins Gym.), F. Barrett, R .Barrett, AVrigley (AVebb's Gym.), Gollop (Miramar Arcs), Johnson (City Giants), Peechi (Boulevard), and Haley (A'ales). Air. F. Barrett has been appointed captain,’ Mr. J. Cameron manager, and Mr. G. Vanston coach.
