EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FOR GERMANS
Czech Nazi Leader’s New Demands BEYOND MINORITY STATUS Uy Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received February 23, 10.30 p.m.) LONDON. February 23. The Prague correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that Herr Kundt. Parliamentary leader of the Germans in Czechoslovakia, after a three-day visit to Berlin, demands exclusive rights for Germans in Czechoslovakia beyond their present minority rights. His specific demands are that he should be appointed German Minister within the Czech Cabinet to enable him to supervise these rights; permission to found a Nazi Party, the membership of which would be open to Czechs; and the reinstatement of former German officials in Government posts.
It was reported from Prague yesterday that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Chvalkovsky, in a speech at a meeting of the National Unity Party, said that Germans in Czechoslovakia would not enjoy special privileges but the same rights as Czechoslovakians. If the Germans desired to profess Nazism, however, they must not be prevented. Dr. Chvalkovsky went on to say that many of the difficulties resulting from the Munich agreement must still be overcome. They must aim at the preservation of their frontiers and national independence. Propaganda aimed at creating illusions about the revival of former conditions must cease. Good relations with Germany were a necessity of the utmost consequence. He added I bat Czechoslovakia would not survive another crisis. She was not yet out of danger.
