WAR RELIEF
Committeeman May Retire MR. A. MACINTOSH At the annual meeting on Wednesday of the War Relief Association of Wellington, the chairmam, Mr. L. O. H. Tripp, reported that lie had received a letter from Air. A. Macintosh, member of the excutive committee and vicechairman of the finance committee, advising that it might ibe necessary for him to give up some of his public activities, including his membership of the executive of the association. In 'his letter, Mr. Macintosh said that a weakness of eyesight, developed during the protracted and laborious sessions of the National Expenditure Commission a few years ago, made it increasingly difficult for him to go about in crowded thoroughfares. So it seemed to him a matter of duty to say he might any day, with reluctance, 'be compelled to detach himself from several duties, including his membership of the executive committee with which he had been associated for many years, and slip silently and .sadly into retirement. Mr. Trip]) referred to Mr. Macintosh’s valuable services to the association since its inception in 1915, as a trustee, member of the executive, and vice-chair-man of the finance committee, and member of the applications and emergency committee. He was joined by members of the executive in expressing the hope that Mr. Macintosh would not find it necessary to sever his connexion with the association and it was decided to request him to continue to assist his colleagues in the work in which he had been so greatly interested and so actively engaged for many years. Ata subsequent meeting of the executive committee Mr. Macintosh was reelected vice-chairman of the finance committee for the ensuing year.
