WOOL STORES DISPUTE

Application For A New Award REFERRED TO COURT No agreement was reached in the Dominion wool and grain stores dispute, which was heard before Mr. S. Ritchie, conciliation commissioner, in Wellington, this week, tlie dispute being referred to tlie Court of Arbitration. Mr. D. I. Macdonald (Christchurch) appeared for tlie employers and Mr. W. Miller (Auckland ) for the applicant union. Tlie workers sought an increase in wages and a decrease in hours. The present award provides for a 40-hour week, but wool storemen can be employed on Saturday mornings at ordinary time rates, which are paid in addition to their ordinary weekly rates of 40 hours. It was requested that all work done on Saturday mornings should be paid for at overtime rates
