Envoy Protests To Japan HONG KONG FRONTIER CLOSED By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, February 21. The Government has instructed the British Ambassador in Tokio, Sir Robert Craigie, to protest against the bombing of British territory near Hong Kong by Japanese planes. The correspondent of “The Times” in Hong Kong says that seven bombs fell in British territory during the raid on Shumchum, killing eight children and three adults. Another Hong Kong report states that 98 were killed and 100 wounded in the raid. The Hong Kong frontier has been closed. The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Geoffry Northcote, who personally witnessed the bombing of British territory, examined the damage and the injured and forwarded a protest to Canton. TERRIFIC AIR RAID ON ICHANG At Least 180 Killed (Independent Cable Service.) (Received February 22, 11.30 p.m.) HONG KONG, February 22. At least 180 persons were killed and 250 wounded in a terrific Japanese air-raid on Ichang today. Ichang is a treaty port situated on tbe Yangtse River iu the province of Hupeh, 270 miles above Hankow and 965 miles from the mouth.
