March 10 —English Gold and Silver Medals, Auckland. Wellington Tournament. The Wellington championships have now concluded after a successful ten days’ play. The weather has been windy practically throughout and as a consequence good break play was not consistently seen on the greens. A few outstanding games were played, particularly by Mesdames Ridley, Manton, Walker, Morgan, Small, Collins, Cadwallader and McLennan, all of whom made substantial breaks toward the conclusion of the tournament. Mrs. Cadwallader played well to win both lives of the womens events, and Mrs. Small and Mrs. Ridley, who have handicaps of 2J and 2 respectively, have done remarkably well to play off in the open event, which this year was run as a yankee in five, sections. Following is' the list of winners: Women's championship: Mrs. Cadwallader; runner-up, Mrs. McLennan. Handicap singles: Mrs. Walker: run-ner-up, Mrs. Heenan. Championship doubles: Mesdames McLennan and Lowery; runners-up, Mesdames Gambrill and Bock. Handicap doubles: Mesdames Bryan and Stonehouse; runners-up, Mrs. Piper and Miss McKenzie. Level singles, No. 3 event: Mrs. Woodley.; runner-up, Mrs. Allan. Level singles, No. 4 event: Mrs. Morgan ; runner-up, Mrs. Collins. Post entry handicap doubles: Mesdames Cleland and May; runners-up. Mesdames Dwyer and Corlett. Pollock Stars.
The Lvall Bay club again successfully defended’the Stars, beating Karori, represented bv Mesdames Braduock and Thoms, 2'6-12. Mrs. Leadbeater was in charge of the game. The next on the list of challengers is the Eastbourne club. McKenzie Cups.
The McKenzie Cups have now gone to Mt Victoria, whose representatives beat Merdames Beard, and Martin last week in a hard-fought game. The players were well matched, the clips being even practically throughout. The long shooting by Mrs.’Beard was excellent. Toward the conclusion of the match Mrs. Flanagan, who was partnered with Miss Ritchie, pegged out her opponent's ball, the other ball having rover to make. This gave Mt. Victoria it good advantage and they won by two point.'-. The next on the list is the llataitai club. Hawke's Bay Tournament.
Steady progress continues to be made with the Hawke's Bay Croquet Associai ion's tournament in Hastings. Perfect conditions prevail, and the greens are in excellent order.
