' —-* Manawatu And West Coast A. & P. Association Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N February 22. Statements submitted<to the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association' today by the treasurer, Mr. M. A. Eliott, showed that there was a debit of £5162 in the general account, making the net indebtedness of the association £3923.- It was hoped to secure £5OO from the association's gala day in March. The committee decided that the insurance for £3OO against rain' on its gala day should be divided into two policies of £l5O each, one covering the day-time and the other the evening programme. It was reported that a cheque had been received for £B3/6/8 from the estate of the late Mr. John Balsillie. This represents a further part of a bequest of £5OO to be made to the .association, which has now received four-fifths of the total legacy. Mr. Balsillie was a member of the association for a long period and one of its most loyal supporters for more than 25 years.
The legacy, it was pointed out by the chairman, Mr. A. Burgess, .was the only one the association had ever received.
