Protecting Public In South Africa CAPE TOWN. February 20. Tlie Minister of Justice, General Smuts. introduced tlie Companies Act in the House of Assembly. The Bill aims to prevent abuses of company administration and exploitation of the public. Share-hawking will be strictly prohibited, also the purchase of a person's own shares directly or through a subsidiary. Fines will be imposed for false statements. Prospectus accounts must disclose loans and reihuneration paid to directors, who must disclose changes in their names and nationality.
