WAVE OF UNREST IN VIENNA
Germany Reported To Be Perturbed ANTI-NAZI SLOGANS APPEAR Workers Join Communist Movement (Independent Cable Service.) (Received February 21, 9 p.m.) LONDON, February 21. Germany is most perturbed by a wave of unrest, which is sweeping Vienna, says the “Evening Standard.” Slogans in red chalk, such as. “We got rid of the Turks and will get rid of the Germans,” are appearing on streets and walls. In spite of the efforts of the Gestapo, the sources of the movement cannot be traced, though it is known that more and more workers are throwing their weight in with the underground Communist movement.
Austrian Nazis are forced to knuckle down to Germans, who override their decisions. Spy movements do not hesitate to make arrests regardless of rank. A concentration camp for Austrian Nazis has been opened at Wienerneustadt. Several hundred are there already and 127 were arrested recently for refusing to obey orders.
