LAWN TENNIS
Wellington Interclub Competition NEWTOWN A WINS SENIOR WOMEN’S FINAL Newtown Club is the winner of the Wellington women’s senior, grade interclub tennis competition. With two teams in the final, A and B, the fact was assured and by beating the B team by five matches to three the A team proved itself the champion women’s club team in Wellington. j, The final, which was played on Saturday in perfect weather on the Wellington Association Courts, was unusual for the fact that two of the four members of the B team were Wellington Nunneley Casket representatives, the A team having one representative. The absence of Miss E. Plummer in Auckland meant the loss of another Nunneley Casket representative for the B team, and probably cost the B team a victory. Both teams were clearly out to win. There was no let up by any of the players. The tennis was up to the best present Wellington senior women’s standard. The following are the results : SENIOR WOMEN. Nowtown A v. Newtown B.
