HOLIDAY OUTINGS

Donors' Generosity To Levin Memorial Home

The girls of the Levin Memorial Home, Wellington, have enjoyed a series of holiday outings and parties recently, the first of which was given by old girls of the home, who brought presents for all, and provided an enjoyable evening. Marsden School gave a Christmas party, taking the children to the school and back again, and also donated £5 for presents. There was also a Christmas Eve party given by Mr. and Mrs. Sawell, Lower Hutt, in their beautiful garden.

The Rotary Club gave a bus drive to the Majestic Theatre pictures, with ice cream and toys for each child, and the Metro-Goldwyn Picture Company and the Regent Theatre gave a picture party for “Robin Hood,” the Wellington Taxis providing free transport to and fro. With the splendid donation of the Commercial Travellers’ Association the children went shopping with the matron and had a happy day. On a recent Saturday an anonymous donor gave the girls a delightful outiug. They first of all had free rides on the “dodgems,” and were then taken by special tram to Newtown Park, where lunch was provided. Later they attended the film, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and the day finished with a drive round the bays with a distribution of fruit and sweets. The next week the Wellington Taxi Company took all the girls for a drive round the bays, and the Wellington waterfront, and again soft drinks and cakes were distributed. In addition to the generous donors of all these holiday outings, the committee wishes to thank the following donors, Mrs. Henry Hall, Miss Nathan, Denhard Bakery, A Scott’s College Mother, Anonymous, Mr. Jennings, Mrs. L. Jolly, Mr. Elliott, Mr. Yates, Miss Barry, Commercial Travellers’ Association Miss Costley, Fellding, Mrs. Du Pout, Miss Archibald, Presbyterian Home, Miss Young, Miss McDougall, Mrs. Luke.
