MOSCOW, February 1

Au official announcement, states that seven Japanese were killed or wounded and a Russian officer wounded in a clash on the Manchukuoan frontier on January 31. A battle with machine-guns resulted from an unsuccessful, attempt by Japanese to occupy an island in the Argun River, near the mouth of the Guran tributary. Russia has sent a Note to Japan protesting against Japanese cases of violation of Soviet territory, and warning Japan against the possible consequences.
