Southland Girl’s Fine Performance CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS Bv Telegraph—Press Association. ■ AUCKLAND, January 27. Swimming over the distance alone in order to retain her lOOyds. Intermediate backstroke title, Miss Joyce McDonald, Southland, registered the remarkable time of 1-14 1-5, to beat the existing record of 1.17 1-5, at the New Zealand junior and intermediate swimming championships, which were continued in Rotorua tonight. Miss R. Stackpoole, Auckland, created the previous record. Miss McDonald also l>eat her own time* of 1.14 4-.» established in Auckland last week. Her Auckland time was made in salt water and, with such heavy water as in the Blue Bath, her performance was outstanding. Results of tonight’s events are:—
