National Film College In Germany
(J.ERMANY, where the film is regarded as a medium for Nazi propaganda, can claim to have founded the first national film college in the world. At the beginning of November, eight months after its foundation stone was laid by the Propaganda Minister, Dr. Goebbels, the Deutsche Film-Akademie, situated on the vast lot of the Ufa Studios, will start its first term. Intended to secure a constant influx of new talent to the State-controlled German film industry, the courses of the new college are divided into three major groups—film art, film technics and film commerce. Each group is subdivided into various subjects—e.g., film technics will comprize numerous lectures pertaining to optics, sound and film chemistry—film technics will deal with production, and film commerce will deal with film distribution and exhibition.
'TWENTIETH Century-Fox’s scen- ' ario department has received a special memorandum offering encouragement for good new story material for the Jones Family. Two other series, the “Big Town Girls” and “Camera Daredevils,” have been dropped by the studio for want of good story material.
