CONTROL OF LAMB AND MUTTON IMPORTS

Dominions’ Opposition To British Plan LONDON, January 24. The Empire Meat Council has received communications from New Zealand and Australia which are considered to warrant a meeting on January 31 to reconsider the position created by the council’s tentative scheme for the control of mutton and lamb imports. Official circles refuse to discuss the Dominions’ opposition to the imposition of restrictions but it is believed that the meeting on January 31 will enable the council to forward a scheme to the Board of Trade. The Government is anxious for a settlement before the assembly of Parliament.
