; The Wellington Athletic Centre will conduct a scratch meeting on the Hataitai Reserve this afternoon, at which '■'all the leading track and field athletes of the city will compete. The programme will commence at 2.15. Cricket.

University, at Kilijirnie Recreation Ground. < The Mercantile Cricket League will proceed with its championship competitions this afternoon, when the following ’A. grade matches will be decided: —Amalgamated Bricks v. Hannahs, Athletic No. 5; Customs Agents v. Working Men’s Club, Kelburn No. 3; Woolworths v. Prestige, Newtown No. 7; Jasco v. Tankmans, Newtown No. 1; Taxes v. Harbour Board, Athletic i The Hutt Valley Cricket Association twill advance its championship competitions a step further this afternoon, when the following A grade games will be played : —Eastbourne v. Empire, Eastbourne ; Gear United v. Taita, Nai Nai No. 1; Bell Park v. Trafalgar Park A, Trafalgar Park; Moera Stop Out v. Trafalgar Park B, North Park No. 2. f The Wellington Women’s Cricket Association will proceed with its. grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the senior matches will be: — College Old Girls v. Wellington, Prince of Wales Park No. 2; Y.W.C.A. v. Technical Old Girls, Prince of Wales Park No. 1. Lawn Tennis. The Wellington Lawn Tennis Association will continue its enterclub competitions this afternoon, when the following senior games will be played:— Women : Thorndon v. Wellington, Newtown B r. Brougham Hill. Men: Varsity v. Seatoun, Wellington v. Island Bay, Karori v. Talavera. Baseball. The Wellington Baseball ‘Association will continue its championship competitions this afternoon,, when the International League games will beFord v. Webb's Gym, Show Grounds, 3.30 p.m.; Miramar Aces v. Petone No. 2, 3.3(1 p.m. Central v. City Giants, Hutt Park No. 2, 3.30 p.m.; Jenkins Gym v. Hutt, Petone No. 1, 3.30 p.m. Yachting. The yachting contest, for the Cornwell Cup, which has been in progress at Plimmerton for a week, but has been interfered with by wind and high seas, will be continued today if conditions permit. ' The chief interest in yachting on Wellington harbour today will be a teams race in centreboard boats between the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club and the Evans Bar Yacht and Motor Boat Club for the Blair Shield. The race will start off Point Jerningfiam at 3 p.m. There will also be club racing at Evans Bay and races for heelers and Idle Alongs at Port Nicholson.
