TRANSATLANTIC AIR SERVICE
American Arrangement - With France
RESULT OF DELAY OVER BRITISH SERVICE
(Received January 21, 9 p.m.)
NEW YORK, January 19,
The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says that because of continued delay over the completion of arrangements for the reciprocal British-American transatlantic service, which has now been postponed at least till June, the Civil Aviation Authority has announced completion of an arrangement with France permitting American planes to land for an experimental period of six months. Pan-American Airways will shortly inaugurate a service of four roundtrips weekly. Other American companies may participate in the arrangement in order to avoid aspects of a monopoly. Pan-American Airways, however, has two Boeing flying-boats readv and a third will be ready shortly, all having a 3200-niile non-stop range with an 11,0001 b. payload.
