EXCURSION TO PICTON

With calm water most of the way (Wellington Harbour at one end and Tory Channel and Queen Charlotte Sound at the other) and the popular 6000-ton steamer Rangatira to do the. journey at a .speed of 22 knots, even; the most unaccustomed of sailors should have no qualms about taking the excursion to Picton announced for next Monday, ilnniversary Day. The Rangatira will leave Wellington at 8 a.m. and by 10.30 a.m. should reach Picton, where excursionists will have about four hours before the return journey is started at 2.30 p.m. A special train will leave Pieton at 11 a.m. for Blenheim, giving plenty of tinhe to explore the Marlborough capital, visit friends, and have lunef before the train leaves again to connect with the steamer. Launches will run from Pieton to various points of interest about the upper part of Queen Charlotte Sound, at some of which lunch will be obtainable at nearby accommodation houses.

Music on the trip will be provided by the Wellington .Boys’ Institute Band.
