Will Mahoney For Australian Films
AfR- L. A. Quinn, general manager of British Empire Films (N.Z.) Ltd., has received cable advice from Cinesound Studios, Sydney, to the effect that Will Mahoney, the famous American comedian who is at present playing in the North Island, has been signed up by Cinesoiind to take the leading role in one of their productions, at present untitled, which they have scheduled to commence shooting early in June. It is to be a large-scale comedy musical, and Cinesound is reported to be paying Mahoney the largest salary the company has ever paid. The supporting cast will include Evie Hoyes and Bob Geraghty. Miss Hayes is one of America’s foremost radio stars, and is noted for her singing of the latest song-hits.
