Picnic At Maidstone Park

The Wellington Garibaldi Club held its annual picnic at Maidstone Park on Sunday. More than 500 members and their friends were present. The president, Mr. G. Pagani, and the committee were responsible for a very enjoyable day. Icecreams and soft drinks were distributed by the women’s committee under the supervision of Mrs. Paino, and during the day 17 sports events took place, the officials in charge being J. Paino and 11. Falleni (handicappers), D. Rigby (starter), J. Rosimini and P. Da Pra (at the tape), and G. Migliore and A. Sassone (judges). The races were competed for with keen interest, and the newly-formed Italian athletic squad, under the patronage of the Consul-General, Dr. R. D’Acunzo, showed great promise and should do well in future when competing in the leading athletic sports in the country. The results of the events were as follows :— Girls' race (4 to 8 years) : Cervo 1, L. Dellabarca 2. Old men’s race (over 45 years): L. Falleni 1, Dellabarca 2. Boys’ race ,4 to 8 years) : F.
