CAR CAPSIZED BY WIND
Wellington Woolbuyer Injured
Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, January 11. Caught by a heavy gust of wind as it was passing a sheep lorry on the Pakowhai Road yesterday, a motor-car containing a party of woolbuyers travelling to Napier capsized. The driver, Mr. Charles L. Hughes. Saar Street, Wellinglon, received a broken arm, but the other occupants were uninjured. When passing the sheep truck Mr. Hughes pulled well to the left, and when returning "to a normal position on the road the car was struck by a heavy gust which caused it to veer farther to the right than intended. Before the driver could regain control the ear lurched off its wheels, rolled sideways and capsized. Both sides of the car were damaged and the doors jammed, but the imprisoned men were quickly released by a party of workmen travelling homeward on the lorry. Mr. Hughes’s injured arm was attended to by a doctor, and he returned to Wellington by aeroplane this morning. The other occupants of the car were Mr. Charles McK. Darling, Mr. L. C. Mayor, and a Japanese buyer.
