JAPAN WARNS U.S.A. AND BRITAIN

Will Retaliate Against Economic Pressure

January 12,1.45 p.in.)

TOKIO, January 11.

Japan will retaliate effectively against any economic measures by Britain and America against Japan, declares “Nichi Nichi, Shimbun" which quotes the Foreign Jlinister, JI. Arita, as saying that Britain and America should be most careful against exerting any economic pressure on Japan, since they must realize the extent to which retaliatory measures may 'be taken by Japan against their interests in China. Other newspapers throughout Japan print similar reports, some asserting that JI. Arita told the United States that Japan was determined to establish a bloc comprising China, Japan and Jlanchukuo which would be capable of reconstructing East Asia.
