For the Wanganui regatta on Saturday, January 21, a programme ot 1events has been arranged. The senior fours, senior single sculls and senior eights are to be rowed iu best and best boats and the remaining .events in elmker The officials will be as follows: Judge, Mr. L. Sheppard; assistant judge, Mr. D. Corby ; starter. Mr. E. Crotty ; assistant starter, Mr. E. Armstrong; umpires, Messrs. P. Evans, W. Coombes and L. Haywood; clerk of scales, Mr. W. Blair. The programme is as follows : 1 p.m., maiden fours, one mile, first £lO, second £2; 1.20 p.m., senior fours (W. The four ns chosen for Wanganui will also compete at the Wellington regatta on February 4 and at the championships at I’lelon a week later. It. J. Tregurtha (str.) a.id W. .1. Lind (bow) will represent I’etone in the senior pairs at the championships and P. A. Abbott (str.) and K. Boswell (bow) have been selected for the double sculls. Mr. A. E. White is coaching the rowing crews for the championships and Mr. 0. Godfrey is looking after the scullers.

Wellington Club’s Elect. The Wellington club’s crews for Wanga nui will be:—

Welterweight junior fours: R. Nicholson (str.), T. Lancaster (3), N. Mathewson (2), S. Watson (bow). Junior single sculls: T. Higglun.

The maiden four, which is also competing in the junior fours, is the samp as at Picton. At present Fish is away on holiday. but hp is due back shortly. Hogglun wil] start, in both the maiden and junior single sculls and .should give a good account of himself as this will be his first time of starting in a class below senior. He has been well up in a number of senior events, but. has yet to win one.

Luke will bo a starter in the senior singles and should be in the running. The welterweight junior four has been changed since Pictnn and. though not the best available as yet- still should do better at this outing. As numerous other oarsmen are away on holiday, it was thought advisable to withdraw some of, the entries which would have been made had the regatta been held later.

Championship Arrangements. Arrangements for the 1939 New Zealand championship regatta at Picton on February 11 are reported to be well in hand. A special sub-committee under the guidance of Mr.. W. Patterson, exmember of the New Zealand Army crew, will attepd to the unloading and reloading of all racing skiffs on arrival at the Piclon Wharf; A committee of experienced oarsmen will see all racing skiffs transported free of charge from the wharf to the rowing sheds.

Properly trued and squared racks will be allotteil each viisting club for their racing shells. An experienced craftsman has been engaged and will be on the spot to carry out any repairs that may be necessary during training operations. No charge will be made for minor repairs, such as tingles and broken riggers.

Napier Regatta. The Napier regatta, which was successfully revived last year after a lapse of about 12 years, is to be held at Napier on Saturday. March 4. The three Willington clubs are exported to be strongly represented and the fixture promises to bp as successful as in previous years.

All races, which will be over a mile, are fo be rowed in clinker boats except the handicap single sculls, which is optional.
