FAMOUS GEYSER ACTIVE AGAIN

1 For the first time since February, 1936, the famous Poliutu Geyser, which years ago was the outstanding attraction of the Rotorua district, renewed activity on Tuesday morning and throughout the day gave several spectacular displays, which thrilled a large number of visitors to the reserve, reports the Rotorua correspondent of the “New Zealand Herald.” The first display was given shortly after daybreak, being heralded by the usual display of the Prince of Wales Feathers, and reaching to a height of more than 100 ft. Almost hourly shots-of slightly less height occurred till 9 a.m., after which the geyser was quiescent till 11 a.m., when further displays were given, the average height of these shots being 60ft. The geyser continued to'play continuously from midday till 5 p.m.
