WEDDING

Shand—Hill Guests from many parts of the Dominion were present at the recent wedding in Wellington of Olive Simpson, only daughter of Mrs. F. Hill and the late Mr. George Hill, Wellington, and Maurice Frederick, only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Shand, Hataitai, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon W. Bullock. The bride was escorted by her brother, Mr. Keith Hill, Christchurch. Her gown of pearl satin was made with a princess top, and full sleeves finished with pointed cuffs, buttoned to the elbows. The skirt flared full from the knees and fell into a very long train. Her beautiful veil of cloudy tulle fell from a cluster of pearl-coloured orchids, and her sheaf was of gladioli and rosebuds in slightly darker toning than the orchids. Miss Rose Green, Wellington, was the only bridesmaid. She wore a redingoto of cyclamen ninon over a full slip of blue taffeta. In her hair she wore two tulips to tone with her frock and she carried a sheaf of tulips and carnations in the same shades. The best man was Mr. Grenville Gribble. Wellington. Mr. S. B. Shortt, who played the organ. played the intermezzo from “Cavalleria Rusticana” during the signing of the register.

A reception was held at the Phyllis Bates studio, Willis Street. Among the 90 guests were Mrs. Donaldson, grandmother of the bride, who wore a floral frock, a black coat and hat, and a spray of sweet peas; and Mrs. A. C. Shand, grandmother of tho bridegroom, who was wearing a navy ensemble with fox furs. Mrs. Keith Hill, Christchurch, the bride’s sister-in-law, was also present.

The guests were received by Mrs. F. Hill, wearing a model frock of clover and blue striped unerushiible silk, a picture hat of clover; and a spray to tone. She was assisted by Mrs. F. J. Shand, who was wearing a ftischia deque frock with a leghorn picture hat, and carried a bouquet to tone. When Mr. and Mrs. Maurice F. Shand loft for tho north, the bride was wearing an ensemble of mermaid blue satin crepe with naw accessories,
