H. G. WELLS URGES MORE CO-OPERATION
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.
FREMANTLE, December 28. Mr. FI. G. Wells, the famous British writer and historian, arrived aboard the Comorin today en route to Canberra to attend the forthcoming conference of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science.
Mr. Wells confessed that he was “rather radical” in that he believed that the unity of the Englishspeaking peoples was more important than the British Empire to the world and to ourselves. “The British Empire,” he said, “is a temporary political arrangement. The reality is that there are 400,OCX>,OCX) people who read, understand, and think in English.” He said he believed that the Eng-lish-speaking people could make a plan for the world with improved understanding and co-operation.
