Y.M.C.A. HOLIDAY PARTIES

Tramp Over Milford Track

A touring Y.M.C.A. party under the leadership of Mr. J. L. White' crossed the Milford track in excellent weather. Two women members of the party, Misses .Cox and McGuire, were unable to undertake the return tramp, and arrangements were made for them to return by the s.s. Matai. The rest of the party, which comprises 36 members, are reported to be in the best of health. This is the second largest conducted tour to traverse the Milford Track.

When the party returns to Wellington on January 10 its members will have traversed a total distance of 1703 miles, including 58 miles on foot, by sea, rail, bus, lake steamer and launch. A second party, touring the South Island by bus, with Mr. L. A. Wilson, as leader, state that they are going to visit Queenstown shortly. From here they will go to the Eglinton Valley, where they will visit the Homer Tunnel. Another party touring the North Island has arrived at Rotorua, and is enjoying excellent conditions. The leader of the tour, Mr. V. 0. Jones, general secretary of the Wellington Y.M.C.A., states that they expect to take part iu the celebrations on New Year’s Eve, and-to leave the next day -for Taupo, returning to Wellington on January 3.
