As a result of the first day’s play in the Wilding Shield challenge match, Auckland, holder of the trophy, has set Waikato a difficult proposition, and the visitors will have to stage a miraculous recovery to succeed. The Auckland players won all six matches decided today, four singles and two doubles. Following were the results: — ' Singles. , N. G. Sturt (Auckland) beat D. Clow (Waikato), 6-0, 6-0. „ N. F.
