Break-up Week Activities
Closing week at Hoseneath School, Wellington, began on Tuesday with an outing to the Zoo for the younger children. The older pupils remained al the school aud spent the afternoon in-games and a treasure hunt on mass lines from one end of the school precincts to the other. Standards IV aud V then entertained Standard VI to afternoon tea, and Betty Livingstone, of Standard IV, and KJiys AVil--liains, of Standard V. wished those members of Standard VI who are severing their connexion with the Hoseneath School success in the future. The school concert was held on Thursday evening, aud was a marked success. After a programme of singing and dancing by the children, including several small plays, Mrs. Balmer presented the sqliool trophies. The dux of the school was Jacqueline Beere, and such good work was performed by John Cree and Ann Mitchell that the committee decided to present two additional prizes. The Piunock Cup, donated in 1933 for the pupil showing the greatest perseverance and character, was won by Besmoud Wearue, Standard IV. Standard VI pass certificates were presented to: —J. It. Cree, Wv T. Baniel, K. W. Livingston, B. E. M. Ilawnsley, Jacqueline Beere, Margaret Begley, Sybil Ituth Campbell, Ivy Irene Clewer, Mary Belli Cilsou, Suzaune Mitehell, Audrey Louise Bowe, Borothy Marie Huddle, Margaret Frances Steptoe, Ngaire Scoli, Jean Marion Williams,. Pamela Edwina Yates. Farewells to Teachers. A presentation on behalf of the staff aud committee was made to Miss Roughton, who, after 12 years’ connexion With Hoseneath School, is leaving to take up an appointment at Khandallali. The presentation, an ornamental reading lamp, was made by Mr. E. C. Feltham, headmaster of the school. It was announced that this would be the last occasion Ou which Mr. Felthani would be present in an olficirfp-capacity, as he had just received notice of transfer on promotion to Wiidestown. It was proposed to arrange a social evening in February to bid farewell to Mr. Feltham and to welcome the new headmaster. The good work of Miss E. S. Johnstone aud Mr. R. .1. Corkiil, assistants, who have this year been attached to the school, I was also mentioned.
