B. H. Morris On Stretto NOTES AND COMMENTS Condition Of Injured Jockeys

B. H. Morris will have the mount on Stretto in the Auckland Railway Handicap. Morris rode Stretto when she won the Taranaki Stakes last February. Auckland Favourites. Disdain ie the ruling favourite for the Auckland Railway Handicap. The chances of The Buzzer, Willie Win, Birthday Boy, and Mazir appear to be the best fancied in the Auckland Cup. Named. Wotan’s sister (Siegfried—Left), for whom the name Erba was disallowed, has been named Kriemhild. To Race at Manawatu, Mr. J. S. McLeod has decided to race Happy Landing in the Manawatu Cup. Dates Changed. Changes in dates were granted by the executive committee of the Racing Conference yesterday. The Reefton club was granted'January 7 and 9 instead of January 4 and 7. and the Clifden Racing • Club's meeting was transferred from January 14 to April 22. The application of the South. Canterbury Jockey Club to race on February 25, using the permit of the meeting to have been held on election day, was refused, objections having been received from the Westland and Gore. Racing clubs. Injured Jockeys. The condition of the injured jockeys, P. Atkins and S. Wilson, continues to improve. Atkins expects -to ride and fulfil engagements for the holidays. Wilson was very gravely injured and though he continues to make progress, it will be a long time before he is recovered. Has Many Friends Here. Mr. A. P. Wilson, formerly chief stipendiary steward to the New Zealand Racing Conference and later in the same capacity to the Queensland Turf Club, recently took up duties as stipendiary steward in Durban. South Africa, and he sends regards to all his New Zealand friends.

Impressed With New Zealand Grass. Mr. R. Green, son of Mr. Sol Green, the w’ell-known Victorian racing man, who is spending a holiday in New Zealand, says that their French horse Actor will be sent to New Zealand in February for a spell on Mr. M. Grogan’s farm, Westmere. It was Mr. Green who recently made the big offer for the Auckland filly Konneta.

Holiday Riding Engagements.

W. JI Broughton’s riding engagements for Manawatu are Yours Truly, Rustem, Mendelssohn. Black Thread, Serenata, and Royal Pageant. At Auckland he will ride Arctic King, Smoke Screen/ Beau Repaire, and Paddy the Rip. He has been engaged for Arctic King, Rollicker, Royal Bachelor and Inquisitor at Te Rapa. G. R- Tattersall will be at Manawatu the three days, at Tauherenikau for one day, and at Marton both days. At Manawatu he will ride Tidal Gift, Joe Louis, Big Dook, Silver River, and Vascones. L. J. Ellis will ride Beaupartir in the Queen’s Plate and 'White Gold in tbe Robinson Handicap at Ellerslie. A. E. Ellis will ride Beaupartir in the Derby. J. Chaplin will be at Manawatu for the three days, at Tauherenikau for one, and at Marton. He will ride Gay Fox (first day) and Copycat and Tom Tom (second day) at Awapuni.

Holiday Visit, Mr. C. W. Tringham, vice-president of the Wellington Racing Club and member of the executive of the New Zealand Ra.cing Conference, will leave on Thursday for a morith's holiday to Australia.

Goldfinch Injured. The Auckland .jockey H. Goldfinch broke two small bones in one of his hands while breaking in a young horse this week, but he hopes to be able to ride during the holidays.
