Duke Of Kent’s Plans
TO TAKE PART IN 1940 CELEBRATIONS
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, December 14. The “Evening Standard” says that plans have been prepared for \jie Duke of Kent to visit New Zealand for two or three months early in 1940 to take part in the centenary celebrations.
The Duke, who is to take over his duties as Governor-General of Australia in November next year, will broadcast to Australia at 9 a.m. (G.M.T.) on January 26. NO OFFICIAL ADVICE Statement By Mr. Savage No official information has been received by tlie New Zealand Government of a visit to the Dominion by the Duke of Kent. Tliis statement was made by the Prime Minister. Mr. Savage, when asked last evening if he were in a position to confirm a Loudon newspaper statement Unit the Duke was to visit New Zealand for the centennial celebi'irtions in 1940. Any member of the Royal Family, lie said, would be assured of a. warm welcome from the people of New Zealand.
