OPTIMISTS’ CLUB LUNCHEON

The Y.M.C.A. Optimists' Club held its Christmas luncheon yesterday, marking the close of its season. Mr. H. E. Brooker presided. The singing of Christmas carols was led by Messrs. W. J. Mason and J. N. Duncan, after which a Christmas message was delivered by the club padre, the Rev. Arthur Muriel, M.C., B.A.

Votes of thanks were accorded the matron and staff, members of the two ladies’ auxiliaries, and the officers of the club for their services during the year. A feature of the luncheon was the Christmas tree, to which members made contributions for the funds of the Y.M.C.A. boys’ camp in Otaki. A sum of £B/3/2 was collected.
