REDUCTION IN FEES REFUSED

Public Works Employees’ Medical Association Dominion Special Service WANGANUI. December 15. The Wanganui Hospital Board decided today to refuse an application by the Public Works Employees’ Medical Asroeiation for a reduction in fees lor t u years ended June. 193< and 1938. J.be association asked that fees be reduced from 6/- a day to 4/- for adults and from 3/- to 2/3 for children. It was explained that the application was refused at the beginning of the year but that the secretary of the association had made no increase in the levy though he was aware that the association woulu be in arrears. The sum owed to tin. board was about £BOO. “Public Works employees are earning up to £2/4/- a day.” said the ehammm of the board, Mr. W. E. Broderick. Most of them get £1 a day or more. he association knew its liability at the beginning of the year but made .no steps to appeal to the department."
